About Begin To Fish

Hey you! Thanks for coming to my site. In case we haven’t met yet, I’m Brian, and I love fishing and being near the water.

Meet Brian

My family is originally from Portugal, where fishing is a big part of the culture. When I was growing up in Canada, my family made sure fishing was a big part of my life.

I have many fond memories of launching the boat at the crack of dawn to put out the crab nets before driving an hour away to our fishing spot with my dad and uncles.

Later that day, we made a fire in front of the water to cook our catch and enjoy the sunset.

However, as I got older, there were fewer and fewer fishing trips. My dad and uncles were getting older and just did not have the energy to do fishing. In my early 20s, fishing trips were essentially nonexistent.

At that time, I was focused on getting my engineering degree and looking forward to start making my own dent in this world.

Fishing was once an activity I was so excited to do, and in my early 30s, fishing did not even cross my mind.

When I was about 32 years old, I got inspired to take a small fishing trip when I found some old gear at my parents’ place while helping them clean out their garage.

I was able to reconnect with old memories and remembered just how much I enjoyed fishing and being on the water again. On this trip, I promised myself to slow down a bit and make room for some fishing in my life.

I created this site as a way for me to share what I know and have learned about fishing as I pick up fishing again.

I hope you find this information useful and helpful to you in your fishing journey.
