Brook Trout has been voted the best-tasting trout by many anglers. Brook tends to be sweeter tasting than the other types of trout.

Rainbow Trout was voted as having the best texture, which has been described as soft, flaky, and buttery.

A close second was the brown trout having a texture that has been described as flaky and delicate.

The texture of trout does not change a lot across the different species. Most of them are described as flaky and delicate but of course within that describtion there is a range.

Which Trout Has The Most Meat On It

Brown Trout is one of the largest trout species and can weight up to 20 lbs. Therefore Brown trout will obviously have more meat on them compared to other trout.

However, there are other types of trout that can still become pretty large as well. Steelhead trout on the high end can get about 20 lbs but that is not as common as a brown trout.

Generally speaking, Rainbow trout is considered to be the healthest trout to eat. Numerous study have shown that its pack more with vitamins and minermals compared to other trout.

That being said, there are not much dietary studies conducted comparing rainbow trout to other species.

In reality, even though rainbow trout has been viewed as the most healthest trout out there. There are a lot of factors that comes into play with this.

How healthy a rainbow trout or any type of trout is will depend on the environment and what is their diet.

A wild trout that has been active and hunting for food that is also in the wild is generally going to be healthier than a farmed trout.

Brown trout is considered a close second regarding how healthy it is to eat.
